SERVICES OFFERED

Adult Outpatient Services

Depression, anger management, anxiety, childhood trauma, marital problems, parenting after divorce, sexual abuse, family violence, and eating disorders are some of the problems that are treated in Adult Services. Therapy is available in an individual, couples, or group setting. Services such as mediation, determining competency to stand trial, and care and treatment evaluations are also available.

--Community Support Program Adults who are severely and persistently mentally ill receive case management, art therapy, group therapy, and/or residential services. Psychosocial groups offer participants therapeutic opportunities to work with others to strengthen daily living skills. Our job coach assists clients in finding and retaining regular employment. The residential program provides varying degrees of care, with primary emphasis on living as independently as possible within the community.

Alcohol and Drug Services

Individuals and their families with alcohol and drug abuse problems can receive evaluations and group and individual treatment to help manage their substance abuse. Alcohol and Drug Information Schools are offered in Spanish and English on a regular basis for DUI offenders.

As part of the Alcohol and Drug Services program, the Regional Prevention Center of the Flint Hills (RPCFH) offers consultation, technical assistance, workshops, and educational information to individuals and groups, with the primary goal to help and support communities develop a comprehensive prevention plan.

Children's Services

Therapists and case managers who have specialized training in working with youth (through age 17) and their parents offer individual, family, or group therapy and case management services. Workshops and group therapy focusing on self esteem, parenting, anger control, coping with divorce, and step-parenting are also offered. Consultation, psychological testing, psychosocial groups and speakers are available for child related presentations.

The Gateway Program , a collaborative effort of the Mental Health Center and the Fifth Judicial District Court Services, offers area youth from 9-17 years a therapeutic setting during the day, while helping them build the appropriate social skills to better deal with their problems. These youth may have been expelled from school, have problems with school attendance, or have a record of misdemeanors with special needs for supervision and guidance after school. There are two separate programs during the school year, and a longer day-program during the summer months. Referrals may be made by the court, parents, or mental health professionals.

Emergency Services

Individuals in crisis situations are provided 24-hour psychiatric emergency services through immediate screening and assessment, crisis intervention, advocacy, education, and referral to appropriate resources, including hospitalization, if necessary. Intensive case management is offered as an alternative to hospitalization.

Medication Clinic

A team of psychiatrists is available to evaluate and prescribe the appropriate medications for certain clients. The psychiatrists work closely with psychotherapists and case managers to provide the most effective and least restrictive treatment program for our clients. Additionally, clients who need their medication injections can receive them in our nurse's office on Monday and Thursday mornings. Clients who are in need of medications but have limited income may qualify for our indigent medication program.
